Cannonball Winter 2020, happening 2/22/2020 from Chester, Illinois on an all new course with more of everything you love! More climbing, more gravel, more unpredictable weather, more challenge and more FUN. We will be using the St. Nicholas Landmark in Chester, IL as race HQ. Registration will open at 8:30A and the race will roll at 10A.
Cannonball is one of the only bike races in the country that crosses the mighty Mississippi and we plan to do it again this year as we are escorted by the Chester PD over the historic Chester Bridge. We jump onto the gravel right as we roll into Missouri and make our way to the rolling hills and bluffs along the river in Missouri; bringing MUCH more climbing in to this years course…..over 5,000’ for the 65 mile long course route (don’t believe the ridewithgps climbing estimate:).) and just over 2,000’ for the 37 mile short course route.
The race will finish on the Missouri side of the river with a rocking finish line party at Al’s Place and van transit back over the bridge to HQ at the Landmark throughout the afternoon. We will have an awesome lunch along with the podium ceremony at the Landmark before calling it a day and heading home.
All registrants receive a custom Cannonball neck gaiter, a great hot lunch at the Landmark after the race, drinks at the finish line party, one of the most challenging gravel races in the Midwest and awesome trophies for the top three finishers in the following categories; Long Cannonball: Male and Female Overall, Male and Female 50+ Masters; Short Cannonball: Male and Female Overall, Male and Female 50+ Masters.
Cannonball Gravel Races are epically fun cycling races, held on open roads, completely self-supported, utilizing GPS for navigation and Strava for timing/scoring. No traditional timing clock, no corner marshals, no closed courses; just you, your bike, and your honor.
